Games Workshop 40K Space Marines.

The three Space Marine Variant miniatures featured in the photograph's are Citadel Miniatures/Games Workshop figures.  Painted by myself  back in the late 1980s.

The figures were released as Space Marine Armour Variants, around 1988/1989, (if my memory serves me correctly). There were 12 different figures in all, (3 figures to a blister pack).   The entire figure is metal, cast in one part with the addition of a plastic back pack and the obligatory slotta base.  Some of the features of these figures were re-used in later Space Marine figure releases, when the Warhammer 40K box set first made its appearance. An example being the Terminator Honor Marine, (the third figure shown).  My personal belief is that these figures were far superior in style and looks to the later releases from Game Workshop and they were definitely far better value for money!!!
